When designing an editorial workflow, devote some time and effort to choosing appropriate names for the states that are the points in the path as content transitions from creation to publication. For instance, you may choose names that reflect what type of work should next be performed upon the content, e.g., "Moderate", "Edit", and "Publish". Instead, you could employ names describing what work has been most recently performed, e.g., "Written" (or "Draft"), "Moderated", "Edited", and "Published". Yet if the website users already have established some sort of terminology, then that should usually take precedence.
